Black History Month Movie Night and Soul Food Dinner at the Harmony Aparments

The East District Community Policing Advisory Board was so fortunate to celebrate Black History Month with families at the Harmony Apartments Friday night. Friendships were made, connections forged, and hearts and bellies were filled. Shoutout to Carmell Jackson, owner of Melly Mell's Soul Food for inspiring us with your story as a successful Black entrepreneur in Madison (and for the hearty meal), as well as to the East district staff -- namely, Captain Marshall, Officer Truman, Neighborhood Resource Officer Laura Deloach, and the officer who made all of this possible, CORE Officer Vic Wickersheim. Thanks as well to Salvation Army of Dane County for your support! We look forward to many more days and evenings together in 2024 and beyond as we strive to create lasting bonds between community and police in support of safer communities for all.
