“Thank you for serving such an amazing Monday Meal at the Triangle! It was a delight to have you as a first-time group with so many eager and efficient volunteers.

I was especially impressed to hear your caring and heartfelt introductions when we went around the room at the beginning of our meeting. I am so pleased I got to meet and interact with every single one of you and I am grateful that there are so many good people involved with law enforcement in our city.

I hope your group will return again next year to maintain and strengthen our relationship. Again, thank you so much for your generosity. The food was fantastic. But the positive energy was absolutely inspiring.”

— Deacon Meg Nielsen, Triangle Community Ministry

“Thank you for having Officer Dower and me join the Central district CPAB at the Dane County Farmers Market – we enjoyed it! The sign and setup started a lot of great conversations. I’d love to partner with you on more events in the future!”

“I wanted to take a moment out this evening to say thank you all (South district officers and CPAB Advisors) for supporting, sponsoring and hosting this year's National Night Out in the South District. Without you all this evening would not have been possible. Seeing all the faces that benefited from the work we came together to achieve truly has my heart full of love.”

— South District Captain Harrison Zanders

“I applaud the East CPAB and the East District Neighborhood team in putting together an excellent, well-attended event. Looking around the room, I could see connections being made everywhere, and no one left hungry. This is what it looks like when it’s Done Right.”

— East District Captain Edward Marshall

“I just wanted to say that the event last night was AMAZING!!!!! Thank you all for all the hard work that was put into this! This was the best event Meadowlands has had! GREAT JOB ALL!”

— East District Neighborhood Resource Officer Laura Deloach

“This is an opportunity for me to share thoughts, strategies, and connections with others to brainstorm how we can best support policing and trust within specifically low income, marginalized communities.”

— Khara Leonard, North District Advisor

“Thank you for your support and your work in, with, and for our communities! Through our work on the Northside Community Dinner we learned a lot, and we look forward to a continued relationship moving forward.”

— Melinda Knuth, Violence Prevention Supervisor, Public Health Madison & Dane County

“Many of our students and their families have had negative experiences with law enforcement, from eviction notices being served, to arrests, to substance abuse, and vandalization. These youth are only going to grow up into adults who will reflect back on their negative experiences. I would like to encourage more opportunities for our youth to have exposure to law enforcement in a positive manner.”

— Eve Ropel, North District Advisor

“Recently there was gun violence very close to my house. With community, city, and police support, this area could be made safer. I would like to understand the issues that police face in supporting the community, and to work together.”

— Mrunalini Kulkarni, West District Advisor

“My favorite thing I’ve seen come out of the Advisory Board is seeing how the community is open to telling us how things can be better and trusting us to be the ones to help with that.”

— Courtney Carlson, West District Advisor

“Police and community members cooperating and supporting each other feels great.”

— Mohammad Din Hajizada, Midtown District Advisor

“Through my role as a Community Policing Advisory Board member, I've witnessed the powerful transformation that occurs when we bridge the gap between policing and our commUNITY. Together, we are fostering understanding, trust, and positive change – one event at a time.”

— LaTrease Hibbler, East District Advisor

East Captain Ed Marshall talking with residents of the Meadowlands Apartments

“After a year that saw two homicides (one of which involved a 15-year-old victim) in a challenged apartment complex, it was clear to everyone that a conscious effort had to be made to build resilience and a sense of community in the area. Our plan was to foster a ‘year of resilience’ in response to a ‘year of trauma.’  With CPAB's help, we were able to provide meaningful and responsive programming. This helped in building the community, and connecting the complex to the larger neighborhood.”

— Edward Marshall, Madison East Police District Captain
